(SPOT.ph) Movie buffs lost a go-to spot when Shangri-La Plaza closed the Shang Cineplex for renovations earlier in 2018. The only thing that kept everyone going was probably the thought that there'd be new cinemas to watch the latest blockbusters. But now, the wait is finally over, because Shangri-La Plaza's Red Carpet is finally open—and we got to go around for an exclusive first look!
You can't miss the bright-red sign on the sixth floor of the mall with the new name of the cinemas. When you enter the area, you'll immediately be greeted by a revamped lobby with a modern design. You can pick your tickets via touch screen at the counter, so there's no need to point out the seats you want to the attendant.Â
There are five cinemas—four regular ones and a Premiere cinema. Cinema 1 can seat 346 people, Cinema 2 can seat 356, Cinema 3 can seat 297, and Cinema 4 can seat 291. The old, red seats have been replaced with sleek, leather-like seats. To feel even more like a VIP, you can book a ticket to the Premiere cinema, which has 70 reclining seats and even an adjoining bar and lounge facility.
Aside from the seats, the screens have also been replaced with Harkness Screens that have better light reflection (so you can see the characters clearly!). The JBL-branded speakers have also been upgraded to the latest models.
Of course, what's a movie without some popcorn? The revamped Red Carpet Cinebar will be still be serving their signature popcorn and hotdogs. There will also be food stalls like NYFD and Mrs. Fields. But if you're still waiting for your movie to start, you can sit on the stadium-like area outside the Premiere theater and watch the latest trailers.

Ticket prices for the cinemas range from P250 to P300. And to make your movie-watching experience even more convenient, you can now also book your tickets online with your credit or debit card. Now all you have to do is present either the printed or digital QR code at the entrance.
Members of the E-SEE Club, their membership program, can reserve seats over the phone. For every ticket purchased, they can earn reward points and claim movie passes, Cinebar treats, and parking coupons for free. There's also a lane dedicated to members for easier transactions.
But Red Carpet isn't just a cinema—it's now also a venue for events. You can block off the cinemas for private screenings or conferences. For food options, the Cinebar offers snack packages, but you can get Shangri-La's restaurants as caterers.
Now you can have host or attend an event, or watch a movie, then head off for your next shopping spree.
