(SPOT.ph) After Erik Matti announced that he was letting go of Darna—one of his most beloved projects—Jerrold Tarog quickly stepped in as the movie's new director. At the time, ABS-CBN reassured fans that Liza Soberano will still be playing the heroine on the big screen. Now, they have announced that Soberano will also be backing out of the project because of a medical injury she got from the set of 2018 TV show, Bagani.
ABS-CBN’s announcement says that Soberano is still recovering from a “finger bone fracture while doing a fight scene.” It continues, “After consultation from her doctors, it was deemed best for Liza not to pursue the project as the injury shall hamper her from effectively doing the movie stunts required.”
The announcement concludes, “The preparation for the Darna movie continues.” ABS-CBN and Star Cinemas “have started the selection process for the new actress who will bring the iconic character to life on the big screen.” Fingers crossed we’ll hear more updates about it soon!
