George R.R. Martin Hints at Game of Thrones' "Successor Shows"

Heads up, GoT fans!

( We're down to the fourth episode of the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, which means it's time to start saying goodbye to the characters we've loved for nearly a decade. Or is it really? The author himself has offered a glimmer of hope.

In a recent post on his personal blog, George R.R. Martin stated that at least three spinoffs of the HBO series are in the works. "We have had five different Game of Thrones successor shows in development (I mislike the term “spinoffs”) at HBO," he wrote, "and three of them are still moving forward nicely." Production begins later this year for at least one spinoff, "the one I am not supposed to call The Long Night," he teased, while the other two remain steady in line.

With his literary series, A Song of Ice and Fire still unfinished and more books about the history of Westeros coming out, it's clear there is still much to know. The epic fantasy series is set to air its finale on May 19, but who knows, you might have to say goodbye just yet!
