(SPOT.ph) Filipino filmmakers continue to provide us with quality films that paint a good picture of culture, traditions, and realities. While the world of cinema has its fair share of Filipino stories, director Paul Soriano is putting the spotlight on the less-told story of a woman in the military with Mañanita, a local film produced by TEN17P and VIVA Films. It is an official selection to the Tokyo International Film Festival, which will happen on October 28 to November 5.
MaƱanita is written by Lav Diaz and follows a female military shooter, played by Bela Padilla. After losing her job, she wanders aimlessly and begins to question life and her purpose. An older man, played by Ronnie Lazaro, tells her to remain strong and provides her words of wisdom.
TEN17P announced MaƱanita's participation in the Tokyo International Film Festival on their Facebook page.
Director Soriano and lead actress Padilla will attend the festival and represent the team.
