(SPOT.ph) Science-ficiton action film The Matrix came out in 1999, and introduced the Matrix, a simulated reality created by intelligent machines meant to distract humans while their physical bodies were being used as an energy source. Protagonists Neo, played by Keanu Reeves and Trinity, played by Carrie-Anne Moss, were key forces in helping humanity wake up from the illusion. The Matrix is considered one of the most influential films in the science-fiction genre and spawned two sequels—The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions—in 2003. In August 2019, it was confirmed that a fourth film in the franchise was greenlit. Most of it has been kept under wraps, but it looks like we're getting one step closer to seeing Neo and Trinity on the big screen again: Reeves and Moss were spotted filming on February 17 in San Francisco, California, for the upcoming The Matrix 4 movie.
User kev.wolf on Instagram shared a photo of the cast and crew filming with rigs, and Reeves and Moss on a motorcycle. It seems Moss is keeping the classic Trinity look with short dark hair and a black leather jacket, while Reeves has opted to keep his hair long à la John Wick.
In his caption, user kev.wolf mentioned more filming, as well as the use of low-flying helicopters.
A video posted on Twitter shows this scene in action.
Aside from Reeves and Moss, The Matrix 4 also sees the return of Jada Pinkett Smith as rebel Niobe. Laurence Fishburne will not be reprising his role as Morpheus, but Variety reports that a younger version of his character will appear in the film. New cast members Neil Patrick Harris, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jonathan Groff, Toby Onwumere, Eréndira Ibarra, Priyanka Chopra, Andrew Caldwell, and Jessica Henwick will be joining the fourth installment in the Matrix franchise in undisclosed roles. The movie is set to hit U.S. theaters on May 21, 2020, but has no Philippine release date yet.
