What We Know So Far About Netflix's Upcoming Genre-Bending Greek Mythology Series

The streaming platform has been oddly mum about Kaos.

Social media's been abuzz with news that a possible new series revolving around Greek mythology called Kaos is set to drop on Netflix. The title is already available on the streaming platform if you look up the show's name, but no other details—such as the cast or even the official release date—have been revealed as of writing. It's no secret that we've all been hoping for some mythology-inspired show or movie, so we did our own digging.

Here's what we know so far about this new Netflix series:

Its creator is the same person behind The End Of The F***ing World

If you were a fan of the Netflix original for its sense of humor (and even the soundtracks), there's a huge chance you'll like Kaos, too. British writer Charlie Covell, the same writer for The End Of The F***ing World, is responsible for developing the Greek mythology series.

It's been in the works since 2018

People have only discovered and started talking about the show recently, but it's actually been in the news for quite some time. Entertainment news site Vulture reported about the show's creation way back in June 2018, announcing Covell's renewed partnership with Netflix for another British series.

The "genre-bending" series will have 10 episodes

In an interview with RadioTimes, Covell says, "It's basically like a contemporary reimagining of Greek Mythology, so it's a big show." The writer also revealed that the series is set to have 10 hour-long episodes and will revolve around themes of "gender politics, power, and life in the underworld." And since the Greek gods were based on the Greeks themselves—and therefore very, very human—Covell added that, "the gods are like a massive dysfunctional family [so the show] should be funny and dark and sad." Sounds like the perfect binge-worthy show, TBH.

Covell also mentioned in the same interview with RadioTimes that filming is set to start in June and the show should be available for streaming on Netflix in 2021. Given the COVID-19 pandemic, we aren't too sure how filming is going to happen as no announcements have been released. For now, we'll just turn on that Remind Me button on Netflix so we'll get notified as soon as the show drops.
