Thai BL Drama 2Gether: The Series Is Coming to Netflix
Are you ready for more BrightWin?
(SPOT.ph) If you somehow didn't notice, 2Gether: The Series made some serious waves when the Tagalized version hit local screens in June. Well, best get ready 'cause we predict another wave! The Thai Boys' Love (a.k.a. BL) show 2Gether: The Series is coming to Netflix on July 30.
Get ready for some serious #feels. Based on a novel by Thai writer JittiRain, the series follows college freshman Tine (Win Metawin Opas-iamkajorn) who is relentlessly pursued by a gay admirer. In order to thwart his advances, Tine manages to pull the university heartthrob Sarawat (Bright Vachirawit Chiva-aree) into a fake relationship—which, of course, ends up becoming all too real.
The series is part of a growing media genre called Boys' Love, which stems from the Japanese Yaoi, featuring love between two men. The series was praised for its direct and non-subtle take on the genre, making mainstream audiences realize that yup, gay people kiss, too. Plus, the lighthearted romantic comedy—that uses "straight" tropes to boot—is a breath of fresh, easy air amid the usually heavy queer dramas on mainstream media.
