A Chinese-Filipina Artist Leads the Cast in Netflix's Next Big Animated Musical

Looks like we have a brand new feels-filled song to play on repeat!

(SPOT.ph) Let's face it, animated movies are more often remembered for that one song everyone sings after watching it rather than the actual story (read: Frozen's "Let It Go"). So we can't help but be excited for the next major earworm coming up! Netflix just dropped the lyric video to "Rocket to the Moon," one of the lead songs in their upcoming animated musical, Over the Moon—and it just so happens to be sung by Cathy Ang, a Chinese-Filipina artist who also voices the movie's lead character Fei Fei! Check out the lyric video below:

Over the Moon is set to be Netflix's "next big animated movie" and is set to drop on the platform on October 23.  The magical film was directed by Oscar winner Glenn Keane and revolves around the quest of a brilliant young girl to meet the Chinese moon goddess Chang'e (voiced by Philippa Soo). The familiar voices of Ken Jeong, John Cho, and Sandra Oh will also be heard in the movie.

Fun fact: Ang wasn't originally meant to voice the movie's lead character. She was simply hired to record a demo of "Rocket to the Moon" for an early screening but her performance was so great she ended up being cast as the lead, according to Insider. Plus, it looks like she did so well that the version you hear in the film was actually her first take!
