He also calls the controversy a diversionary tactic.

(SPOT.ph) They might be supporting different presidential candidates, but it looks like Robin Padilla has nephew Daniel Padilla's back.
For context, Daniel recently drew flak over his comments about non-voters expressing their opinions about the national elections. "Huwag din tayong masyadong matapang. Make sure alam din natin at kaya nating i-back up 'yong sinasabi natin," he said. "Hindi naman tayo puwedeng salita nang salita and 'di mo naman alam ang nangyayari sa eleksyon. Marami kasing nagmamagaling sa eleksyon, hindi naman botante, 'di ba? So, shut up ka, hindi ka naman botante."

His remarks quickly went spread all over the Internet, with fans and non-fans alike giving their two cents. (The tweet above is just one of the most viral reactions.)
On Friday, May 6, Robin took to his Instagram account (above) to defend his nephew, praising the latter and apologizing on his behalf. He also said that the controversy was just a "diversionary tactic" for people to forget the real issue: Sen. Antonio Trillanes' controversial ad against Rodrigo Duterte. "Si Antonio Trillanes ang kalaban hindi ang batang ito," he said.
Both Robin and Daniel have been active campaigners this election season: the former supports Duterte, while the latter is for Mar Roxas.
