Bb. Pilipinas-International Kylie Verzosa opens up about mental health
We love this girl!
(SPOT.ph) We love gorgeous girls with a heart, and Bb. Pilipinas-International winner Kylie Verzosa has this in spades. The 24-year-old runway model and pre-school teacher is also an advocate for mental health awareness, and has been vocal about her personal battle with depression. "I was pushing myself so much because I felt I had no self-worth. That's what depression feels like," she told The Manila Bulletin in an interview.
She recently shared a snapshot of the interview on her Instagram account (below), where she pushed for a more open conversation about mental health. "Depression and anxiety are one of the youth's main problems today. I want people to know that it is a real sickness and it affects people in many different ways. It is treatable, and you are not alone," she wrote.
Verzosa added, "Mental health is something we do not talk about often. I believe that one of the most fundamental knowledges is how to manage our own mind and emotions, and this isn't something taught in schools but eventually learned through searching and experience."
The beauty queen from Baguio City will represent the Philippines in the Miss International beauty pageant in Tokyo this year.
