The Philippines has been tapped to host the next Miss Universe pageant again
...according to the Department of Tourism.
(SPOT.ph) The Philippines could be seeing the return of over 80 of the most beautiful women in the world...or universe, rather. According to a report from ABS-CBN, the country has been "offered" the rights to host the next Miss Universe pageant.
Department of Tourism chair Wanda Teo was quoted saying, "Pinagaaralan pa namin iyan pero that's true, they are asking us to host it again this year." If they choose to accept the offer, Teo said the Department of Tourism (DOT) will be pushing for "more control" over the event.
The previous Miss Universe 2016 pageant was held at the Mall of Asia Arena, where France's Iris Mittenaere took home the crown, succeeding Pia Wurtzbach. The Philippines' bet, Maxine Medina, landed in the Top 6. The pageant hopefuls toured different locations during their 16-day stay in January 2017, including Vigan, Boracay, Cebu, Siargao, Baguio, and Manila.
The 2017 edition of Miss Universe is slated for November, and Filipino-British Rachel Peters will be representing the Philippines.
