The Philippines Won't Be Hosting the 2017 Miss Universe Pageant
Better luck next year!
(SPOT.ph) Avid Miss Universe fans were thrilled when news initially broke out that the Philippines was "offered" to host the 2017 edition of the pageant again. It turns out that the plans will not be pushing through this year.
“No Miss Universe this year. Baka next year,” said Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo, as reported by ABS-CBN News. However, she did not divulge the reasons behind the sudden change. A new hosting country has yet to be announced, but we still have our fingers crossed for the Philippines' bet, Rachel Peters.
The previous Miss Universe 2016 pageant was held at the Mall of Asia Arena, where France's Iris Mittenaere took home the crown, succeeding Pia Wurtzbach. The Philippines' bet, Maxine Medina, landed in the Top 6. The pageant hopefuls toured different locations during their 16-day stay in January 2017, including Vigan, Boracay, Cebu, Siargao, Baguio, and Manila.
Miss Universe 2017 is slated for November.
