ICYMI: Miss Universe-Philippines Rachel Peters Sparkles in Her National Costume

She definitely stood out in this ensemble.

(SPOT.ph) In case you already didn't know, the 66th Miss Universe pageant is currently in full swing. Although the coronation night isn't until November 26 in Las Vegas, the preliminaries actually went down over the weekend.

One of the most-awaited portions during preliminaries is, of course, the National Costumes, where over 80 candidates flaunt eye-catching costumes that represent their country and culture.

For the Philippines' candidate, Rachel Peters sparkled as a golden Sarimanok, which is said to symbolize "good fortune for the Maranao people." For the modern look, she donned a gold one-piece swimsuit, a skirt-slash-wings, and an intricate headpieceall designed by Val Taguba. (Taguba has previously dressed other beauty queens, including Catriona Gray, Nicole Cordoves, and MJ Lastimosa.)
