Cabinet members told: Support Teodoro or resign

If Pres. Arroyo's Cabinet members cannot support the administration's presidential candidate, Sec. Gilbert Teodoro Jr., the "honorable thing" for them to do is resign, said Cabinet Secretary Silvestre Bello III in a radio interview on Sept. 22, reports GMANews.tv.

"As Cabinet members of Mrs. Arroyo, we are alter-egos of the president. If we cannot support her choice, the only honorable thing to do is to leave the Cabinet. You cannot have alter-egos of the president having different views from your boss," said Bello in a mix of Filipino and English.

Foreign Affairs Sec. Alberto Romulo had implied that he would support Sen. Noynoy Aquino, the Liberal Party's presidential bet, in an interview from London, where he is traveling with Pres. Arroyo's delegation. "My ties with the Aquino family have been deep and lasting," said Sec. Romulo.

"I think Sec. Romulo will do what is proper under the circumstances," said Bello.
