Floodwaters now cover parts of Metro Manila, according to news agencies.
According to weather bureau PAGASA, the tropical storm, named Ondoy, hit Luzon at 10 AM today, and traveled westward. Winds were measured at 85 km/hr with gusts of 100km.
According to Inquirer.net, hundreds of families have been affected by rising floodwaters, with around 100 families evacuated.
As evidence of the storm's severity, the Southern Luzon Expressway (SLEX), Manila's main conduit to its Southern outskirts, has been closed by authorities, due to flooding several feet deep.
