Mayon eruption imminent, Alert Level 3 raised in Albay: 30,000 to be evacuated

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has raised Alert Level 3 for Mayon Volcano after observing five successive minor ash explosions and 43 volcanic earthquakes in the last 24 hours,

Philvolcs director Renato Solidum said they are working with the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) on a possible evacuation of residents living at the foot of the volcano, while Albay governor Joey Salceda has ordered the Joint Task Force Mayon to prepare vehicles to evacuate 30,000 residents, says GMANews.TV.
