Despite her "Laban" sign photo, Sarah Geronimo still supports Loren, say Legarda and her manager
A photo of singer-actress Sarah Geronimo wearing a yellow shirt and flashing the "Laban" sign, both of which are symbols associated with the Liberal Party, has been circulating on the Internet since April 26, reports PEP.ph. The photo has created controversy since Geronimo is a celebrity endorser of Nacionalista Party vice presidential candidate Loren Legarda. She even sang a tweaked version of her song "Ikaw" in a TV ad for Legarda. "Salamat Loren, ikaw lang ang aking bise presidente," Geronimo tells Legarda at the end of the commercial.
Some have speculated that the photo was taken during the funeral of former President Corazon "Cory" Aquino. Others say the photo might have been taken in 2007 when Sen. Edgardo Angara, whom Geronimo endorsed, sought his fourth term under the Laban Demokratikong Pilipino.
Another version of the photo was posted in 2007 on the thread "Sarah's 19th Birthday Celebration w/ the Popsters" on SarahGeronimo.com. The caption read: "Ate G, Ash and Sarah… (eh san ba kayo nakatingin ha???? Mabuti pa si Sarah alam kung san titingin! Hehe!)"
"Hindi na ako nagugulat sa sobrang paninira ng dilaw sa Internet [at] kung saan-saan," Legarda told ABS-CBNNews.com. She said Geronimo still supports her.
Geronimo's record label, Viva Records' head Vic del Rosario suspects the photo was digitally altered, reports ABS-CBNNews.com.
