Long weekend alert! May 3 declared non-working holiday
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo announced that May 3, Monday, will be a special non-working holiday in the Philippines in observance of Labor Day, reports GMANews.TV.
Executive Secretary Leandro Mendoza said that the date was moved from May 1 to 3 in line with Malacañang's holiday economics policy.
There have been no wage increase announcements for the time being since wage hike petitions in seven regions are still in deliberation. In lieu of this, Malacañang will hold a job fair which will allegedly open around 60,000 to 80,000 local and foreign job opportunities to Filipinos.
