Tears for Fears promoter apologizes to Korina Sanchez, says there were no publicity arrangements
Tears for Fears concert promoter Renen de Guia of Ovation Productions apologized to Korina Sanchez for "inadvertently focusing [the camera] on her" when she flashed the Laban sign at the May 2 Tears for Fears concert at the Araneta Coliseum, which allegedly elicited booing from the crowd.
"We would like to clarify that neither Ms. Sanchez nor anyone in her company made arrangements with us that they be given publicity mileage for political purposes during the Tears For Fears concert. I can imagine that flashing the 'Laban' sign has become second nature to her after having been actively campaigning daily for months," de Guia said as posted on Ovation Productions' website.
A clip of the alleged booing posted on Youtube captioned:
"Korina 'Boo' Sanchez. Tears for Fears in Manila concert"
Sanchez said that their group including her husband, Liberal Party vice presidential candidate Mar Roxas, did not hear the booing. " Issue of propriety na ito. Ugali ko na ang pinag-uusapan dito… Pinagtatawanan lang [ni Mar] kasi hindi naman niya talaga narinig," she said, according to PEP.ph.
De Guia said he didn't hear the alleged booing as well since he was at the soundboard area behind the patron section. "I must've been preoccupied with other concerns and the alleged booing was not loud enough to have distracted me."
Sanchez denies using the concert to campaign. "Ini-enjoy namin ang concert, nagsasayawan kami. Hindi ako doon nangangampanya. Parati na akong nasa palengke, ako na nga si Mrs. Palengke."
