Erap clarifies Binay oversight, says he also failed to vote for son JV
In a phone interview broadcast on GMA-7's primetime news program 24 Oras last night, former president Joseph "Erap" Estrada denied the allegation that he did not vote for Binay. He issued the statement to dismiss the photo and video that showed his ballot, which allegedly didn't have a vote for vice president.
However, in an Inquirer.net report that was posted today, Estrada owned up to his oversight, saying, "Bago eh (It was novel)." (He was referring to the new automated voting system.) He likewise told Inquirer.net: "Pati nga si JV (who is running for Congress) nakaligtaan ko eh (I even forgot to vote for JV)."
Inquirer.net noted that Estrada further downplayed the incident, saying it happened only because he had left his prepared list of candidates with his security officer. Estrada also said in the report that "Mayor Binay would not believe those people who would say that [I dropped him]. Our bond of friendship is strong."
