Kris Aquino is leaving The Buzz and SNN for Noynoy and family
The "Queen of All Media" Kris Aquino announced on SNN that she is giving up two showbiz talk shows she hosts, the weekly The Buzz and the daily SNN, after her brother and leading presidentiable bet Noynoy Aquino's possible proclamation day on June 30.
Kris told SNN, "In all fairness kay Noy, hindi naman niya in-impose. Napagpasiyahan po namin na for the duration of Noy's presidency, magpapaalam po ako sa aking mga shows that can cause controversy for him... It is a choice, a sacrifice I'm making kasi napakahirap po na any comment I make can be misinterpreted. Kawawa naman po ang kapatid kong si Noynoy kung dahil nagpakataklita ako eh siya po ang magiging tagasagot pa, 'di ba? Eh opinyon ko naman 'yun. He will have enough problems solving everything that is a crisis here."
"Napag-usapan din namin na malaki 'yung income na tatalikuran ko--magpakatotoo tayong lahat--pero ginagawa ko po 'yun dahil may utang na loob ako sa pamilya ko. Dahil nung binabatikos ako, sila po talaga ang sumangga at talagang pinaliwanag sa sambayanan na 'Bakit niyo ginaganyan si Kris, wala naman siyang kasalanan.'"
Her last SNN episode is on June 25 and her last The Buzz episode is on June 27. However, she was quick to add that she would still have shows on ABS-CBN: her teleserye Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo and the reality talent show Pilipinas Got Talent. After a three-week vacation following the end of Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo in August, Kris is set to take on new shows in September.
Kris Tweeted, "When I come back, I'll have new shows for ABS-CBN, I can still act, host a game show, judge a talent show, or finally fulfill my dream of having a lifestyle/travel show with a community sharing component. Life is good and I feel positive! Love love love. "
Kris' decision came after a "fruitful meeting" with the ABS-CBN honchos, she told Ricky Lo of The Philippine Star. "I have my entire being to help my brother win, and now I will continue to give my entire self to help him succeed as president of our country. If that means sacrificing my exposure and income from two shows I am so closely identified with, then that is what being family is all about, putting the good of all above personal interest."
In the May 16 episode of The Buzz, as reported by PEP.ph, Kris reiterated that she would only leave the country if she would become a liability to her brother's possible presidency. "Pero sana po, hindi n'yo i-take ito as being mayabang, it's just a fact. Nakatulong po ako sa kapatid ko. And balak ko pong tulungan si Noy in every possible way that I can for as long as he wants me to help him… I intend to stay put."
She told 24 Oras, "I'll really be on my very best behavior."
For Noynoy's girlfriend, Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad, Kris told The Buzz as reported by PEP.ph, "She proved to me how much she truly cared for Noy by campaigning 100 percent. And ako, kakampi mo na ako. Love, love, love. So, 'yun na lang, alagaan mo na lang talaga si Noy." On September 2009, Kris expressed her wish for Noynoy "to stay single forever" but immediately took it back, according to a PEP.ph report.
