After Boy Abunda, Noynoy Aquino eyes Dingdong Dantes, Ogie Alcasid for gov't posts
Aside from TV host Boy Abunda, president-apparent Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, is also considering offering actor Dingdong Dantes and singer-composer Ogie Alcasid government posts, GMANews.TV reports.
According to GMANews.TV, Aquino was asked if he was considering tapping other celebrities for government positions in the wake of talks that Abunda was offered the top spot in the Department of Tourism. Aquino reportedly replied: "Si Dingdong, si Ogie…siguro dun sa mga advocacy nila gaya sa youth."
Aquino said that while there is a committee that oversees appointments in the administration but he believes Dantes and Alcasid will have significant contributions in the entertainment and youth sectors. He told GMANews.TV: "Kung papayag sila (Dingdong at Ogie) bakit hindi. Si Dingdong alam ko may youth foundation…si Ogie ganun din yata plus yung OPM (Organisasyon ng PIlipinong Mang-aawit)."
Aquino revealed, though, that he had not yet discussed the matter with either Dantes or Alcasid. "Baka magulat sila, hindi ko pa sila nakakausap tungkol diyan…si Dingdong yata nasa abroad," he said.
Dantes and Alcasid had supported Aquino presidential campaign. Dantes was designated as the spokesperson for the youth, while Alcasid composed the jingle used for one of Aquino's ads.
