Richard Gutierrez's "reckless imprudence resulting in homicide" case dismissed
On May 28, the Department of Justice (DOJ) denied the Motion for Reconsideration of the "Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Homicide" case filed by Lorayne Pardo against actor Richard Gutierrez, reports Showbiz Central.
Lorayne is the widow of Gutierrez' personal assistant, Nomar Pardo, who died in a car accident on May 22, 2009. Nomar was seated in the back of the car that Gutierrez was driving in Silang, Cavite, according to PEP.ph.
Showbiz Central quoted the recently released court documents: "DOJ Sec. [Alberto] Agra denied the Motion for Reconsideration as they found no reason to alter or modify or reverse their findings and the grounds raised had already been considered and passed upon." The DOJ's decision is final.
The DOJ dismissed the case against Gutierrez in March: "We find no basis for the Provincial Prosecutor of Cavite to conclude that respondent was driving the vehicle at a 'mind-boggling speed.'" The DOJ's resolution also stated that the damage Gutierrez' car sustained did not mean Gutierrez "was driving the same at high speed."
