Noynoy eyes broadcast journalist Ricky Carandang to be part of his communications team
Broadcast journalist Ricky Carandang is being eyed by President-elect Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III to be part of his communications team, reports GMAnews.TV.
Aquino denied rumors that he offered the press secretary position to Carandang. "Not as press secretary, but [he] will help us in the media group," Aquino told the media at a press briefing inside his Times Street home in Quezon City on Monday, June 14. "We really want to engage the citizenry and part of that is the communications strategy."
Aquino, who will officially be president on June 30 said that he has yet to talk to the ABS-CBN News Channel anchor and program host.
Carandang told GMANews.TV in a text message that he has not spoken to Aquino. "I haven't spoken to the president-elect yet so it would be hard to comment at this time."
Carandang reports business and politics for the ABS-CBN News Channel and recently won the 2010 Broadcast Journalist of the Year award of the Rotary Club of Manila.
