Spotted with Robin Padilla, 42, at his daughter’s surprise birthday party on July 16, host-actress Mariel Rodriguez, 25, told ABS-CBNNews.com that the action star invited her to the party. She quipped, "Ang haba ng bangs ko ’no?"
According to the report, the rumored couple was seen "talking intimately" in a corner during the party for Robin’s eldest daughter Queenie, who recently followed her dad’s footsteps and joined showbiz. She is currently part of the ABS-CBN primetime show Momay.
Queenie told ABS-CBNNews.com, "I was surprised and very thankful na nakapunta po siya because I really admire her. She’s very beautiful and talented. I don’t see anything wrong with that [Robin dating Mariel] kasi single si Papa at single naman si Mariel." Robin and Queenie’s mother Liezl Sycangco divorced in 2007, while Mariel announced her breakup with three-year boyfriend Zanjoe Marudo on May 29.
Though Mariel insisted in an interview with SNN that she and Robin are just "getting to know each other," she tweeted on July 18, "I [heart] Robin Padilla." The tweet is no longer posted on Mariel’s Twitter account but according to Manila Bulletin, Mariel tweeted an explanation an hour later, "I was feeling down because a friend (atleast I thought we were friends) made me feel bad. Robin cheered me up.that’s why again I [heart] ROBIN!"
She told The Buzz the same day, "I say ’I love you’ to everyone! I heart, cute lang." She told The Buzz co-host KC Concepcion, "[I love him as much as] I love you. I love everyone. We [Robin and Mariel] are just friends."
Last week, Mariel admitted to going out on a movie date with Robin at Power Plant Mall in Makati City.
