10 Things to Do this Weekend + The Club & Bar Scene

Rock with Coheed and Cambria, watch Cherie Gil own the opera, go crazy over K-Pop Trio One Way, and more.

What’s happening in Manila this weekend? SPOT.ph zeroes in on the events and happenings you shouldn’t miss.

1. ROCK YOUR FRIDAY NIGHT C&C STYLE.

If you’re a fan or into progressive rock, then you wouldn’t want to miss Coheed and Cambria Live in Manila on July 30, Friday, 6 p.m. at the A. Venue Music Hall, Makati City. As if that’s not enough, Pinoy favorite bands Franco and Firefalldown will also be performing. Better brush up on your Coheed and Cambria fun facts. For more updates about the band, visit their official website. For ticket prices and more information about the event, visit TicketWorld.com.ph and TicketNet.com.ph.

2. TAKE A CRASH COURSE ON CALLAS-STYLE DIVA-NESS.

The Philippine Opera Company brings back the Tony Award-winning Terrence McNally-penned play, Master Class featuring veteran actress Cherie Gil as the legendary opera diva Maria Callas at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati City. Performances run from July 29 to 15, Thursdays to Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3:30 p.m. For more information, log on to TicketWorld.com.ph or call (02) 8919999.

3. BE BLOWN AWAY BY BARE ART.

View STEREO 2 by Juan Caguicla and Christina Dy at the Silverlens Gallery until July 31 and at the MANILART 10 Art Fair from July 30 to August 1. STEREO 2 is their follow up to last January’s STEREO 1 wherein the two artists used their bodies as the subjects to produce a new and grotesque image combining Caguicla’s photography and Dy’ s charcoal drawings. STEREO 2 showcases only one image that is meant to make an impact as the two artists go further with what they bare and where they connect.

4. CRUISE THE ONE WAY STREET TO K-POP VILLE.

Another K-Pop sensation is in town; this time it’s One Way Live in Manila. Catch the K-Pop trio as they tour selected SM Malls to promote the Philippine edition of their album, One Way Street. Catch them on July 30 at SM North EDSA Annex, July 31 at SM Megamall, and August 1 at the SM Mall of Asia. All performances start at 5 p.m. For more information, contact the SM Mall of your choice.
