Goodbye "Wowowee," Hello "Pilipinas For the Win" with Kris Aquino on July 31
Starting July 31, say goodbye to top-rating noontime show "Wowowee" as it is replaced by "Pilipinas For The Win," a new game show hosted by Kris Aquino along with Robin Padilla and "Wowowee" co-hosts Pokwang, Valerie Concepcion and Mariel Rodriguez, reports ABS-CBNNews.com.
(The show’s name is called "Pilipinas For the Win" in ABS-CBN’s official statement and in a "TV Patrol" report but is written as "Pilipinas Win na Win" in the ABS-CBNNews.com. report).
"Wowowee" host Willie Revillame, who has been on indefinite leave since May, has been informed about this change through his manager, says ABS-CBN Corporate Communications head Bong Osorio, who also confirmed that Revillame will have a new show on the network.
In May, Revillame threatened to leave the show "following an outburst triggered by fellow Kapamilya talent Jobert Sucaldito’s alleged non-stop criticisms of the noontime show," according to ABS-CBNNews.com.
Pep.ph reports that after Revillame went on leave, actor Robin Padilla was tapped to pinch-hit for Revillame as Wowowee host for a week, after which he was offered to host it permanently, but Padilla declined.
Aquino, who returns from her US vacation with kids Joshua and Baby James on July 30, sent ABS-CBN a message that said, "I’m happy to be part of the new noontime show, and to work with Robin, Pokwang, Mariel and the whole production team. I’m excited to be back on television." Comedienne Pokwang tearfully told "TV Patrol" reporter Mario Dumawal, "Kaya talaga ngang nagulat ako, na wala akong alam...Thank you. Nagpapasalamat naman po ako dahil alam ko at nararamdaman ko na...Salamat po." Robin Padilla sent a message saying the new show was a new opportunity to bring joy and help to our countrymen around the world.
