The Ivan Padilla gang members got only P5,000 for each vehicle they stole because a huge portion of their spoils went to illegal drugs and online casinos, reports The Philippine Star. Superintendent Maristelo Manalo, head of the anti-carjacking unit of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), said this was what arrested suspected gang members Dale Alimagno, 22, and Glenn del Castillo, 31, revealed. The two were arrested on July 30 after a shootout in Quezon City, reports The Daily Tribune. The vehicles of former Foreign Affairs Secretary Roberto Romulo and the father of actor Derek Ramsay were recovered from them.

Another arrested suspect, Mark Inducil, who was with their slain leader Ivan Padilla when he died on August 2, pleaded innocent to the charges. Padilla sustained two gunshot wounds in the head, according to The Philippine Star, but he died of asphyxiation, according to an autopsy report shown by his family.
The Philippine Star says the Commission on Human Rights and the Internal Affairs Service of the Philippine National Police "are conducting separate probes of the incident amid accusations by Padilla's mother, Malou, that her son was ’summarily executed.’" The police are looking for at least seven other gang members, including four women, as well as the buyers of the other stolen vehicles.
