24 Oras video: Ninoy’s last moments reenacted on the NAIA tarmac.
In a TV Patrol World interview, Ballsy Aquino-Cruz (the late Sen. Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr.’s eldest child) said that the Aquino family has long forgiven the perpetrators behind her father’s August 21, 1983 assassination. She said, "Huwag na nating isipin ang mga masakit na nangyari, bagkus isipin po natin ang mga positibong nangyari dahil po sa kanyang martyrdom (Let us not think of this hurtful incident, instead, let us focus on the positive effect of his martyrdom)."
Ballsy added that even though they have forgiven Ninoy’s killers, she and her siblings--President Noynoy, Kris, Pinky, and Viel--still want to know the truth behind their father’s assassination, reports GMANews.tv. "Sana po maisulat, kung ayaw, maikuwento man lang sa atin, nang sa gayon, sa future ay malaman natin ang tunay na nangyari doon (I hope the truth could be written or even just recounted to us so that the future generations would know what really happened)," she added.
An Inquirer.net report pointed out that after 27 years, the mastermind of the assassination of Ninoy is still unknown and the soldiers who were convicted of the crime were later pardoned during the Arroyo administration. Ninoy’s assassination triggered protests during the term of President Ferdinand Marcos. The protests culminated in the People Power Revolution in 1986, which led to Ninoy’s widow Cory replacing Marcos as president.

Over the weekend, the Aquino family and their close friends commemorated Ninoy’s death anniversary at his burial site, the Manila Memorial Park, with a mass and a candle-lighting ceremony, according to GMANews.tv. The President said at the gathering, "Sa halimbawa nila, marami po sa atin ang namulat. Kaunti na lamang po ay maipupunta na natin sa tama at tuwid na landas ang bansa (Following my father’s example, many of us have become enlightened. Just a bit more and we can finally bring our nation to the straight and righteous path)." According to an Inquirer.net report, Vice President Jejomar Binay and Noynoy’s running mate in the recent elections, Mar Roxas, were also present at the commemoration.
Earlier that day, Ballsy visited her father’s monument in Manila, Pinky Aquino-Abellada gave away Ninoy dolls during the groundbreaking ceremony of a preschool building in Quezon City, and Viel Aquino-Dee went to the program at the People Power Monument in Quezon City, reports TV Patrol World.
