Bb. Pilipinas-International 2009 Melody Gersbach and her driver Santos Ramos Jr. and makeup artist Alden Orense died after the Toyota Innova car they were riding collided with a Guevarra bus at Barangay Pawili in Camarines Sur on August 21, reports GMANews.tv and ABS-CBNNews.com. Designer Ronald Lita, who survived the accident, was rushed to the Bicol Medical Center, according to Inquirer.net.
ABS-CBNNews.com reports that Gersbach’s party was headed to Naga City for the Miss Bicolandia beauty pageant screening when their car collided with a bus driven by Wilson de los Santos, who said he lost control of the vehicle when its tie rod broke. The police said, according to Inquirer.net, the bus tried to avoid a tricycle before it collided with the Innova.
De los Santos has surrendered to the police and is now imprisoned at the Bula Police Station in Camarines Sur, according to 24 Oras. Gersbach’s family will file charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide and damage to property against De los Santos and the Guevarra Bus Line. Bus line owner Cherry Guevarra said they are ready to face the charges and they will give financial assistance to the victims’ families.
