Lady Gaga wins 8 MTV awards
Avant-garde singer and songwriter Lady Gaga bagged 8 Moonman statuettes at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) on September 13, including one for Video of the Year for her futuristic "Bad Romance" clip, reports Reuters.com. Lady Gaga also known as Stefani Germanotta, 24, had 13 nominations, most of which were for "Bad Romance."
The pop singer’s other awards include Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, Best Dance Music Video, Best Choreography, Best Direction, Best Editing, and Best Collaboration for her duet with Beyonce in "Telephone," reports Reuters.com.
While on stage to receive her Video of the Year award, Lady Gaga announced that her next album--the follow up to "The Fame"--would be called "Born This Way." The big winner even serenaded the audience: "I’m beautiful in my way because God makes no mistakes. I’m on the right track baby. I was born this way."
Lady Gaga wore three outfits for the 2010 MTV VMA reports MTV.com. Her arrival gown was a royalty-inspired Alexander McQueen original. Outfit number two was a gothic Armani dress. Her last outfit was the controversial Franc Fernandez dress made of real meat.
Other winners include: Eminem with Best Hip Hop Video and Best Male Video for "Not Afraid"; Justin Bieber with Best New Artist for "Baby"; 30 Seconds To Mars with Best Rock Video for "Kings and Queens"; Florence + the Machine with Best Art Direction for "Dog Days Are Over"; Jay-Z and Alicia Keys with Best Cinematography for "Empire State of Mind"; Muse with Best Special Effects for "Uprising"; and The Black Keys with Breakthrough Video for "Tighten Up."
