Vicki Belo confirms John Lloyd Cruz had been calling Ruffa Gutierrez; Cruz vows to stay away but refuses to cut ties completely
PEP.ph said Belo was obviously referring to Cruz because the entertainment website and other members of the press specifically asked her about the issue. Cruz previously denied calling Gutierrez, while the actress said it was "not a big issue" to her.
Belo recalled that Gutierrez had a persistent caller when they were in Dubai and Lebanon, , whose voice the doctor knew very well. "We were having breakfast in Dubai and it was 5 a.m. in Manila. I saw the caller’s name but I didn’t tell Ruffa or anybody. Ruffa was on the phone with him for a long time. He also called her when we arrived in Lebanon. The next morning, he called again," she said in a mix of English and Filipino. Belo said she is only defending Gutierrez, and that the actress was not chasing after Cruz.
Gutierrez, who was with Belo at the time of the interview, declined to reveal what she and Cruz talked about. "For me, there’s no issue whatsoever. He can call me 10 times a day or once a year. I’ve moved on a long time ago. If we do communicate, it’s strictly as friends."
In a separate interview, Cruz told TV Patrol World that he and Gutierrez "communicate to address issues" they are both involved in. "It’s not communication like what people and some members of the press insinuate." The actor said he will "stay away" from Gutierrez "out of respect for her and her family," but won’t completely cut ties with her. Moreover, his current girlfriend Shaina Magdayao has been "very understanding and mature" about the issue, he said.
