Boy Abunda’s partner Bong Quintana gets high post in PAGCOR
TV host Boy Abunda’s partner Bong Quintana has been working as the assistant vice president for entertainment of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) for four months now, reports ABS-CBNNews.com.
PAGCOR said it was Quintana’s competence that got him the high post, not his connection to the Aquino family through Abunda, who is "unofficially known as the fifth Aquino sister" according to ABS-CBNNews.com. "Boy Abunda never intervened or whatnot," PAGCOR Chief Executive Officer Cristino Naguiat Jr. said.
Quintana is in charge of the casino shows that feature artists including those from Backroom, Abunda’s talent management agency that Quintana used to be vice president of. "Conflict of interest? He’s producing all the results and increasing customer attendance, who cares about conflict of interest?" Naguiat told ABS-CBNNews.com.
Naguiat said Quintana’s shows helped increase the casino revenues during the latter’s time as stage director during the previous administration. Quintana started working for the PAGCOR in 2007 and resigned in January. When he was re-hired in July, "there was a remarkable increase in the number of attendees and walk-ins because of the entertainment programs, " PAGCOR Assistant Vice President for Corporate Communications Maricar Bautista said.
Bautista said, "Quintana was even hesitant to allow Backroom talents to perform in the casino shows because it might cause controversy. But the branch managers are the ones who request for the likes of Erik Santos and Sitti (Backroom talents). And in fact, we get cheaper rates, about 40 to 50 percent discount on talent fees."
