An Invitation to Malacañan, a coffee table book produced by a team led by former Social Secretary Bettina Araneta Aboitiz, has been nominated in the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2010, reports Yahoo News. Up against entries from 55 other countries, it is the lone book from the Philippines in the running for the shortlist of the Best Cookbook of the Year award.
The shortlist will be announced in January, and the Best in the World awarding ceremony will be held on March 3 at the Theatre Le 104 in Paris.
This year, 154 countries submitted entries to the 53 categories of the competition. According to Yahoo News, the quality of cookbooks in Asia and Latin America has increased by 10 to 20 percent.
