PH football team loses to Indonesia, 0-1
Cristian Gonzales scores a header for Indonesia
The Philippine national men’s football team lost to Indonesia (0-1) at yesterday’s match in the first leg of the Asean Football Federation Suzuki Cup semi-finals at Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta. Cristian "El Loco" Gonzales scored a header that gave Indonesia its lone goal. Meanwhile, Phil and James Younghusband, and Joel Ballo-Allo almost scored for the Philippines, according to GMANews.tv and Inquirer.net.
The Philippine team, more popularly known as the Azkals, needs to win by two goals at the next match against Indonesia on December 19 to advance to the finals. GMANews.tv reports, "In case the Azkals do not outscore the Indonesians by a goal, extra time will be given. If the aggregated scores remain tied after the extra time, a penalty shootout will determine which team will advance to the finals."
The Azkals may have lost to Indonesia yesterday, but it is a vast improvement over the 1-13 loss they suffered in 2002, reports Inquirer.net.
