The Philippine football team, also known as the Azkals, will play against Mongolia in the Asian Football Confederation Challenge Cup qualifying tournament in February, reports ABS-CBNNews.com.
The home game in the home-and-away series might be held at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod. But because it will be winter in Mongolia in February, Philippine Football Federation President Mariano Araneta said they have expressed their intention to have the away game in the Philippines as well.
ABS-CBNNews.com reports that if the Azkals beat Mongolia, the team "will move on to the qualifying event in a group which includes Myanmar, Palestine and Bangladesh."
The Azkals will also hold tryouts for the tournaments next year, according to team manager Dan Palami. ABS-CBNNews.com quoted him: "It doesn’t matter if you’re a local or a Fil-foreigner... There will be an equal chance for everyone to compete for slots in the squad."
