24 Oras video: The star-studded Metro Manila Film Festival Awards Night
Ang Tanging Ina Mo: Last Na ’To! won big in the Metro Manila Film Festival Awards Night held December 26 at the Meralco Theater. The comedy flick bagged Best Picture, Best Director (Wenn Deramas), Best Actress (Ai-Ai delas Alas), Best Supporting Actress (Eugene Domingo), Best Screenplay and Best Story (Mel del Rosario), Best Musical Score (Jesse Lasaten), Best Child Performer (Xyriel Manabat), and the Gender Sensitive Award, reports PEP.ph.
Dolphy, who was not able to attend the ceremony, won Best Actor for Father Jejemon and Best Supporting Actor for Rosario.
Noticeably missing among the nominees are early favorites Jennylyn Mercado, who plays the titular character in Rosario, and the film’s director, Albert Martinez. "Win or lose nanalo na kami (we already feel like winners) because it took us five years to make this film," Martinez told TV Patrol World.
Martinez and the Rosario cast and crew did not leave empty handed though; the film won 2nd Best Picture, the Gatpuno Antonio Villegas Cultural Award, Best Cinematography (Carlo Mendoza), Best Editing (John Wong), and Best Production Design (Joel Luna and Miki Hahn).
Meanwhile, RPG Metanoia, the first Pinoy full-length 3D-animated film, won 3rd Best Picture, Best Theme Song ("Kaya Ko"), and the Gender Sensitive Award (special citation for animation).
