P-Noy reportedly buys P4.5 M Porsche
President Noynoy Aquino allegedly bought a P4.5 million secondhand Porsche for himself the past Christmas, reports Inquirer.net. He supposedly swapped the BMW that he bought when he was a Senator for the Porsche, according to Inquirer.net’s source who is close to Manny Dimaculangan, a car buff and Aquino’s friend. Dimaculangan allegedly arranged the purchase of the secondhand luxury car.
On December 26, the President, a first-time Porsche owner, supposedly got a tutorial at the private Clark International Speedway in Pampanga. Inquirer.net’s source also said Aquino took his friend Sen. Francis Escudero for a spin at the track.
24 Oras report
UPDATE (January 14): Yesterday, the President justified what he called his "thirdhand" purchase, saying the government did not pay for the Porsche. He said he bought it using a personal loan and the money he got from the sale of his BMW, reports Inquirer.net. The news website quoted him as saying, "(I don’t think people would object that) once in a while, (I can) smile in the face of the many problems left for me to deal with." He added, "If (driving the car every) now and then relaxes me, surely it would redound to the country's benefit when I have to make decisions."
