RH bill "moving along very well," says Sen. Pia Cayetano; third Senate hearing may be scheduled soon
Sen. Pia Cayetano told GMANews.tv yesterday that the Reproductive Health (RH) Bill is "moving along very well" in the Senate.
In the second hearing on the RH Bill yesterday, the Senate health and demography committee discussed the implications of not having a law that grants universal access to affordable and quality reproductive health services. Cayetano, the committee chairperson, said, "Without a law, you (might) have local government dictating the non-existence of any services... It’s really a matter of hearing facts that will help the committee determine what exactly should be contained in the bill."
Cayetano also Tweeted yesterday, " Reproductive Health hearing... lasted almost 5 hours. Heard some 20 resource persons."
The schedule of the third hearing depends on the available resource persons and the issues to be discussed, Cayetano told GMANews.tv. The Senate RH bill is entitled "An Act Providing for a National Policy on Reproductive Health and Population and Development."
