For most people, the first month of the year is all about frantically shedding the holiday weight. If your old workout routine has left you stuck in a boring rut and has you hankering for something new, Plana Forma can help jazz up that exercise plan with a high-impact workout that combines yoga, pilates, and dance in an intense 55-minute session, and lose those inches-fast.
Plana Forma is based on the key principles and techniques of Physique 57, a focused workout with a cardiovascular program of isometric exercises and orthopedic stretches. The workout involves target-specific exercises which work on the abdominals, thighs, hips and seat muscles, while strengthening the back muscles and working the hamstrings. A session starts with warm-up exercises using two sets of weights then moves on to barre exercises which work the thighs, calves, hips and seat muscles. The floor exercises, meanwhile, focus on the abdominals.
Unlike other workouts, you don’t take breaks in Plana Forma; you move on to the next set of exercises quickly. Plana Forma fires up the muscles to the point of exhaustion. Says instructor Julie Alagde, "The pace is really fast but it’s interval training; you exhaust one body part at a time. You will lose the inches because you’re toning the muscles." One can burn as much as 600 calories in one session, depending on one’s body weight.
Even those who have avoided the gym or any kind of physical activity will find that they can actually go through one whole session without stopping to catch your breath. Adds Alagde, "I can’t say one workout is better than the other but the strength of Plana Forma lies in its entirety, the exercises encourages active flexibility. On your third week, if you work out three times a week, you can already feel the difference."
The Plana Forma Studio is located at the 6th Floor Jecoprime Building, 20th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig (behind Essensa). For inquiries, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or check their website for class schedules.
