QTV video: RH Bill supporters rally in front of Congress
The House Committee on Appropriations approved the Reproductive Health (RH) Bill’s initial fund (20-3) today, reports GMA News. The P731-million fund will be taken from the budgets of the Department of Health and the Commission on Population.
According to RH Bill PH, Rep. Karlo Alexei Nograles made attempts to change some of the bill’s provisions but Rep. Edcel Lagman objected, saying the committee only has jurisdiction over the appropriation section.
Former Akbayan Rep. Risa Hontiveros posted on her Twitter page, "RH bill sa (in the) plenary! A chance at last!" Artist, activist and tour guide extraordinaire Carlos Celdran Tweeted, "Yahoo! That was worth the 14 year wait... 20 vs 3 is a great indicator of HOR sentiment!"
Meanwhile, Democratic Socialist Women of the Philippines Chair Elizabeth Angsioco Tweeted, "#RHbill work continues. Tom, Senate Comm on Health Technical Working group will meet to consolidate RH bill & resolution. :)"
Earlier today, Rock Ed founder Gang Badoy quipped on Twitter, "Tell Congress - if they pass the RH Bill, the Azkals will run around the field, ripping their shirts off. Oh wait, that’s for us. Ok erase."
