Maria Aragon sings Lady Gaga’s "Born This Way"
It all started with a video posted on YouTube on February 16 by 10-year-old Maria Aragon, where she belts out a somber rendition of pop sensation Lady Gaga’s new single Born This Way while playing the piano. In five days, the video garnered over eight million views and caught the attention of Hollywood blogger Perez Hilton, who sent a link to the video to the eccentric hit-maker herself.
"Can't stop crying watching this," Lady Gaga Tweeted on February 17. "This is why I make music. She is the future." In a phone conversation with Aragon broadcast over Winnipeg radio station Hot 103, Lady Gaga praised the tween’s singing, sang the chorus of "Born This Way" with her, and invited Aragon to sing a duet onstage with her in her concert in Toronto in March.
Aragon, a Filipino-Canadian from Winnipeg, Canada, says she has been singing on YouTube for three years. Could a stint on Ellen be next?
