Pinay Tween YouTube sensation Maria Aragon guests on "Ellen"
Ellen de Generes meets the 10-year-old singer and discovers why even Lady Gaga herself is a fan.
Maria Aragon guests and performs on Ellen
Filipino-Canadian YouTube sensation Maria Aragon, 10, was a guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday, about a week after her "Born This Way" cover was uploaded on Youtube.
Asked why she chose to cover the latest Lady Gaga single, Aragon said, "(It’s) because of the (song’s) meaning... It’s about just being yourself because God made who you are and you’re no different than anybody else."
Referring to her recent phone conversation with Lady Gaga which was broadcasted over Winnipeg radio station Hot 103, Aragon told DeGeneres, "It’s not every day you get to talk to a superstar or get feedback from a superstar saying that you did great on a cover that’s her song."
Aragon also expressed wonder over being invited by Lady Gaga herself to perform a duet with her at a Toronto concert in March. "She’s really up there and I’m only beginning."
The Canada native, who has been singing since she was three years old, also performed her stripped down version of "Born This Way" on the show. DeGeneres later gave her a package filled with "all kinds of cool stuff" so she "doesn’t have to borrow her sister’s iPod anymore."
After Aragon’s Ellen appearance, Lady Gaga Tweeted, "Such a doll. Monstercovers are all beautiful. I love this song so much, thanku for giving it life."
