Ex-AFP comptroller Carlos Garcia defends designer outfits of stylist son Tim Mark Garcia
At a Senate hearing on Friday, former military comptroller Carlos Garcia, who is currently facing plunder charges, defended the designer wardrobe of his controversial son Tim Mark Garcia, said to be a publicist for Marc by Marc Jacobs according to reports in 2009.
"Much has been written about my son, who is a stylist (and) a fashion designer. People have been writing about his lifestyle at idinudulot na ang kanyang suot ay galing sa nakaw (and implying that his wardrobe was bought using ill-gotten wealth), which is very unfair," ABS-CBN News quoted Garcia.
The younger Garcia, along with his mother and two brothers, were charged with allegedly helping the former military official hide illegally acquired assets, reports ABS-CBN News. He was put on house arrest at the luxurious Trump Plaza in New York in 2009.
That year, The Daily Beast featured his designer clothes, jewelry and dog bed. Arguably the most controversial among his costly accessories was the Chanel pouch he used to contain his electronic monitoring ankle bracelet. Photos of him wearing the pouch at parties have spread on the Internet. Yesterday, his father said he knew about the photos "but (wasn’t) aware that he (Tim) allowed himself to (have his picture) taken like that."
