CHECK IT OUT: Australian Food Festival at Oakroom, March 7 to 27

Pair South Australian red and white wines with popular dishes from the Land Down Under.

 

 

There’s more to Australian food than meat pies and Tim Tams. This month, the Oakroom in Ortigas highlights Australian dishes prepared by Oakwood Premier's Executive Chef Jerome Cartailler paired with wines from the Land Down Under.

Aussie meal options include Tajima Wagyu Beef Striploin, Braised Lamb Shank, Sauteed Barramundi Fillet, a selection of Australian cheeses and desserts such as Sticky Date Pudding with caramel sauce and cinnamon whipped cream.

Co-presented by Wine Depot, the festival runs until March 27 and features wines from St. Hallett, a winery known for its "old vine" Shiraz; D' Arenburg, and Grant Burge, a five-star winery in South Australia. "Australian wines are easy to pair with food," shared Oakwood Premier's General Manager Brian Connelly. "The wines are from the iconic Barossa and Eden Valleys, known for its Shiraz and Riesling among others. The "aged" vines go well with the lamb and steak while the "Stumpies"-best while they are "young", match the lighter fare. Grant Burge matches anything in-between."

 

The a la carte menu is available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. until March 27. Oakroom is at the 6th floor of Oakwood Premier Joy-Nostalg Center, 17 ADB Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig City. Call 716-1160 for inquiries and reservations.
