Filipino-Canadian YouTube sensation Maria Aragon, 10, performed her cover of "Born This Way" with Lady Gaga at the Grammy winner’s Toronto concert last week. Lady Gaga herself invited Aragon to perform the duet with her onstage about two weeks ago, after the Canada-based tween uploaded her stripped down version of "Born This Way" on Youtube.
Sitting on Lady Gaga’s lap, Aragon sang and played the piano with her. "I’m really excited that Maria is here today because Maria represents what this song is all about: the next generation and the future, and no more divisiveness," the international pop superstar said.
A fan who attended the Toronto concert, Jyll Saskin, told MTV News, "While she (Aragon) was singing ’Born This Way’ with Gaga, it was so quiet in the audience; it was like everyone was in a trance. It was really magical... Maria is a born superstar. She spoke so eloquently and didn’t seem nervous at all. I mean, she’s sitting on freaking Lady Gaga’s lap at the Air Canada Center (before) some 24,000 people, and she didn’t skip a beat."
According to Saskin, Aragon came back after "Bad Romance" to perform the last part of the repeat of "Born This Way" with Lady Gaga and her dancers.
