Dato Arroyo criticizes P-Noy’s "indecisiveness and lack of focus" in OFW evacuation in Libya and fuel price hike
Camarines Sur Rep. Diosdado "Dato" Macapagal Arroyo has criticized President Noynoy Aquino’s "indecisiveness and lack of focus in running state affairs," ABS-CBN News reported yesterday.
In a statement, the youngest son of Aquino’s predecessor cited the President’s "bungled management" of the evacuation of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Libya and the fuel price hike.
According to ABS-CBN News, Arroyo said it took Aquino almost two weeks to make concrete steps in the repatriation of Libya-based OFWs. He added that the administration fell short in terms of crisis management competence.
Arroyo also criticized the fuel price hike that was allowed despite supposedly having one to two months worth of stocks, which were bought before the crisis in Libya. He said the Department of Energy should exercise its "visitorial powers" to assess the country’s oil reserves.
"By now, Mr. Aquino must realize that managing a problem such as oil price adjustments is not as easy as they thought when they were on the outside throwing stones at the previous administration. Ang gagaling nilang magsalita noon. Bakit wala silang magawa ngayong sila na ang nakaupo? (They were so vocal before. Now that they’re the ones in power, how come they can’t do anything?)" ABS-CBN News quoted Arroyo as saying.
