Manny Pacquiao quits Twitter after backlash over his controversial tweets including "lolo mong panot" comment
Boxing champion Manny Pacquiao deleted his Twitter account (@CongMP) yesterday, following the backlash over his controversial comments on Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez’ impeachment case and his responses to other Twitter users.
As seen in the cached version of his Twitter page, the Sarangani representative called the impeachment hearing-which lasted for almost seven hours-a "very interesting topic." According to ABS-CBN News, his tweet reminded Twitter users of his absence in the plenary discussion. He is currently training in Baguio for the match against Shane Mosley in Las Vegas on May 7.
Among the Twitter users who commented on Pacquiao’s absence was @RAndRat who posted, "@nerveending to hell with @congmp. Why the f*** did you run for congress when you know you’d barely be present? @momblogger" Pacquiao replied, "@RAndRat e di mag reklamo ka sa lolo mong panot hahahaha." ("Go tell your balding grandpa!")
Pacquiao later Tweeted that he votes "no" on the impeachment case against Gutierrez. Afterwards, he Tweeted, "Sorry everyone but hanggang dito nalang delete ko na account ko thank you very much to all your support."
