TV5 suspends participation of minors in all network contests and game shows after "Jan-Jan on Willing Willie" incident
(SPOT.ph) Following the backlash from a viral Youtube clip showing six-year-old Jan-Jan Estrada crying while gyrating on Willing Willie, TV5 said they have temporarily "imposed a moratorium on the participation of minors in all contests and game shows" of the network.
In a statement sent to PEP.ph, TV5 said they have ordered "stricter guidelines on the appearance and performance of minors" on all their programs, and required all auditions for their shows to be "supervised by TV5 representatives designated by the TV5 ombudsman."
TV5 chief legal counsel Christine C. Ona was appointed the network’s ombudsman and will be in charge of reviewing incidents of similar nature. The network is also conducting its own investigation into the Willing Willie incident; Ona and TV5 Chief Operating Officer Roberto V. Barreiro are heading the probe.
TV5’s statement reads: "We welcome the hearings of the MTRCB and other bodies as opportunities to further thresh out the issues and find solutions that will address the many concerns that have been expressed."
