(SPOT.ph) Former President Joseph "Erap" Estrada said he has forgiven Sen. Panfilo "Ping" Lacson for the latter’s privilege speech in the Senate in September 2009, reports ABS-CBN News.
Lacson delivered the speech after it became clear that Estrada wanted to run for President in the May 2010 elections. The Senator said, "God save the Philippines from Joseph Ejercito alias Joseph Estrada."
According to ABS-CBN News, Lacson claimed in his speech that Estrada allowed jueteng and the smuggling of chicken and rice to thrive in the country. The report also said Lacson hinted that the former President knew something about the murder of publicist Salvador Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito in 2000.
On Tuesday, Estrada’s 74th birthday, the former President said, "Wala na sa akin ’yon, lahat naman napatawad ko na." He said he has not spoken to the Senator since the latter emerged last month after more than a year in hiding, following his indictment in the Dacer-Corbito double murder case.
